I make a move to Matara – SL#17.

Hello again and welcome to what appears to be a veritable production line of posts about my first trip to Sri Lanka in early 2014, the 17th instalment in as many days. At this rate I shall catch myself up and be writing about the same date exactly seven years on from the events reported and I really wish I would stop having these daft notions as I’ll probably have to make that happen now but I have a couple of months to catch up.

just my usual quick one-liner before we get cracking and it is aimed at new readers who have stumbled on this page other than part of the series and that is advice that this post will make more sense if you start from the beginning.

Please read on.

Rampart rambling and Hikkaduwa hiking – SL#16.

Roll up, roll up ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls (although I hope no children are subjected to this) and prepare yourselves for another great two for one offer brought to you exclusively by fergysrambles.org. I am your friendly global purveyor of world-class nonsense by appontment to nobody except the haematologist, the hepatologist, the opthalmic surgeon etc. Sorry, wait a moment, that is having appointments with, not by appointment to, I got confused.

I shall now pre-empt the next two questions of my long-suffering regulars, the answers to which are no and now. The questions obviously were, “Is he drunk or stoned” and “When is he going to drive us mad with that ‘go back to the start’ link”?

If any new readers have not yet left in complete bafflement as to what this is about, it is a regular practice of mine to inform people like your good selves that this is one of a series of posts about a three month trip to Sri Lanka in early 2014 and I start each one by telling the world at large that it will all make more sense if you read from the beginning which you can do here.

If any of you are still there, please do read on, I enjoy the company!

Fine fish and fun in the Fort – SL#13.

Well, well, post number 13 in this series already, I seem to be making good progress and I hope it will not prove to be unlucky. Fortunately I do not suffer from triskaidekaphobia and I know I have used that word before in another post but I just love it. Go on, write to me and tell me what your favourite words are. I love Q words and quotidian and quondam have both got to be up there but there are plenty of others.

I should tell you at the outset that you are in for a treat, well hopefully anyway. Yet again you are going to have one of Fergy’s “two for one” deals as it appears that very little happened on the first day except for a very fine meal. Please read on.

I finally get on the road – SL#12.

Hello again one and all and welcome to the 12th portion of what is going to turn into a body of writing to rival any of the Norse sagas, not in quality it goes without saying, but in sheer volume. Regular readers will know I have a propensity towards verbosity and if that is not a good title for a song I don’t know what is!

22nd January, 2014.

Yes, as I promised in my last missive here, I was going to get on the move today and so could not lie in bed half the day as is my wont but why I had to rise at 0620 is a complete mystery to me. I know this because of my images but I shall spare you yet another one of my lovely bathroom at that hour!
