I don’t quite believe this.

I am publishing this in the early hours of 17/05/2018 and am going to preface it, as I so always do, with a series of apologies. I seem to have spent half my life apologising.

I had started my lovely brand now website and had posted a few entries about my trip to the West Country of England and ulitmately Lundy Island and, whilst it seemed to be going fine if somewhat chaotically, it was tickling along nicely. Enter at this point stage left, stage right, from the flies and very possibly by way of hydraulic ramp through the stage floor (think the genie in a pantomime), my health. I have literally been effectively in bed for a month. I know this may be seen as a blessing by many but it is a right pain in the posterior. I seem to have recuperated somewhat now and am feeling right in the mood to add a little more.

Lamentably, I had not even checked my emails for literally weeks and was therefore astounded to see that my inbox was as full as the shoe cupboard of Imelda Marcos once was (maybe still is, who knows with the money they salted away?). The huge majority of these mails were notifications of people following this blog or making very humbling comments about it. I had realistically expected maybe half a dozen old friends from other sites as I have not even told all my “contacts” about my new venture because I wanted to get it up and running first.
Certainly, I was amazed at the number of people who had even found it online, people I do not even know. You will never know how much that meant to me. I was, to use an old British expression, “gobsmacked”. I thank you all from the bottom of my heart. Now that I appear to be restored to a reasonable way of going, I shall hopefully get another few bits and pieces put up today.

As a bit of an explanation and moreso a desperate cry for help, can anyone give me a steer on this? I have been “publishing” my Lundy trip back-dated to the dates on which they happened. It is the only way I will ever keep things in order for myself so I know what has been done and what has not. I am looking a couple of decades of material here and if I just take off onto each new adventure it is going to be all over the place. If there is a better way, can some of my techie friends please tell me?

Again, I am hugely flattered by all the messages and when I work out how to answer messages on my site I shall certainly reply to you all (except the Nepalese travel agency and air-con seller!). I hate spam.

Right, that is about it for here, better get back to what I was writing about. Hardly a fascinating read I know but hopefully it clarifies the position a little. I really do have lots of travels to put here.

Stay tuned.

Author: Fergy.

Hello there. I am a child of the 50's, now retired and had been enjoying travelling pre-virus. Now I am effectively under house arrest. Apart from travelling, I love playing music (guitar, vocals and a bit of percussion) as the profile pic suggests and watching sport, my playing days are long over. I read voraciously, both fiction and nonfiction I'll read just about anything although I do have a particular interest in military history of all periods. I live alone in fairly central London where I have been for over 30 years since leaving Northern Ireland which was the place of my birth. I adore cooking and I can and do read recipe books and watch food programmes on TV / online all day given half a chance.
