The Clans on the Cape.

Welcome once again to my latest offering in the series of posts concerning my dear friend Lynne, Betsy the very old campervan / RV and your humble narrator on a road-trip around the Maritime Provinces of Canada in the summer of 2014. I use the word summer loosely in terms of the weather we had experienced.

If you wish to find our what the weather had done to us and everything else the trip entailed then you can begin the story here.

If you want to find out what happens next then please read on.

Fog, more fog and fabulous fun.

Welcome everyone to the latest instalment of the rather lengthy tale of my six week ramble through the Maritime Provinces of Canada with my dear friend Lynne in Betsy the 33-year-old campervan / RV. She was making the occasional odd noise, her lights had gone out once and it was touch and go whether she would last the course. I am referring to Betsy obviously!

If you want to read the whole tale from the beginning you can do so here.

Regular readers will know that I had left you in the previous post having had a day’s sightseeing round the town of Louisbourg on Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia and if you want to see what happens next then please read on.

A lighthouse, a let-down and Louisbourg licencing laws.

Hello again everyone and welcome to another post in the series concerning my 2014 road trip round the Maritime Provinces of Canada which you can read from the beginning here.

My dear friend Lynne and I were in a very old campervan / RV called Betsy who was holding up fairly well, despite us having more or less completely re-fitted her to make her roadworthy before we began. It was all a bit of an adventure really but it was going well and in the previous post Betsy had carried us as far as Louisbourg and specifically the Louisbourg Motorhome RV Park and Campground. If you want to find out what happens next then please read on.

Canso, the Causeway and the Cape.

Good day everyone and welcome yet again to the latest in my series of posts about my 2014 trip to the Maritime Provinces of Canada with my dear friend Lynne in an ancient RV which we had re-fitted. She seemed to be holding up reasonably well apart from one minor electrical problem and occasional strange noises emanating from the engine. If you wish to read the whole story of this particular adventure, you can do so here.

In the previous post I had left you with us parked up at the SeaBreeze Campground three miles West of Canso, Nova Scotia where we had arrived fairly late in the evening and had enjoyed a wonderful sunset and a rather more average supper cooked by yours truly. If you want to know what happened next then please read on.

I wish I was in Sherbrooke now (2).

Welcome everybody once more to this instalment in a series concerning my 2014 trip to the Maritime Provinces of Canada which consisted predominantly of a road-trip with my dear friend Lynne in a fairly frail old campervan / RV which we had named Betsy. If you wish to read the story in it’s entirety, you may begin it here.

If you have read through I thank you and you will know that we had spent the previous afternoon exploring the wonderful Sherbrooke Village Museum, a “living museum” in Guysborough County, Nova Scotia. We had plans to have another full day as there is just so much to see and a late start had meant that we had only scratched the surface.

If you wish to join us for a look round and to find out what we did afterwards the please read on.

I wish I was in Sherbrooke now (1).

Good day to one and all and welcome once again to another episode in my series about a wonderul 2014 trip in an old campervan / RV called Betsy with my dear friend Lynne where we were travelling round the Canadian Provinces of Nova Scotia, New Brunswick (briefly) and Prince Edward Island. If you wish to read the story of the whole trip from the beginning, you can do so here.

As I spoke about in the previous post, we had not got to bed until some ridiculous hour in the morning, our respective sleep disorders having obviously had a chat to each other and decided to attack us on a twin front. The result of all this was that we did not wake up until early afternoon but we still managed to have an absolutely brilliant day.

If you want to find out about it, then please read on but fair warning as always, this is a busy day and a long post!

Strange names and super places.

Hello again to everyone and thanks for checking out this latest in my series of posts about my 2014 trip to the Maritime Provinces of Nova Scotia with my dear friend Lynne in a very old campervan / RV called Betsy who was rapidly becoming a very dear friend as well. If you wish to read the whole story from the beginning, you can do so here.

Apart from being very cosy Betsy had stood up remarkably well to Hurricane Arthur despite her great age and structural frailty in light of the fact that we had jerry-rigged her together to make her habitable.

Hurricane Arthur was like a politician, big on noise and wind and short on substance although there were serious problems with the power grid over large swathes of Nova Scotia and New Brunswick. Arthur had prompted us to stay in the Halifax Regional Municipality perhaps longer than we would otherwise have done but we had certainly not run out of things to see and do as I hope my previous posts have shown, but now it was time to get moving again.

If you want to see where we go then please read on.

Hanging out in Halifax (2).

Hello once again and welcome to the latest in a series of posts concerning my Summer 2014 trip to the Maritime Provinces of Canada where I was on a road trip with my dear friend Lynne in a 33-year-old campervan which we called Betsy for some reason. It’s as good a name as any I suppose.

As usual I will start by saying that if you want to read the story from the beginning, then you can do so here.

Regular readers will know that when I left you last time we were in the excellent Shubie Campground in Dartmouth which is part of the Halifax Regional Municipality (what a mouthful) and had enjoyed a wonderful day of sightseeing in that fine city but we knew there was still much more to see and so another day was called for there.

If you’d like to see what we got up to then please read on.

Stormy seas and superb seafood.

Hello once again and welcome as always to this next post in the series about my 2014 “Summer” trip to the Maritime Provinces of Nova Scotia, New Brunswick and Prince Edward Island in Canada.

I was in a campervan / RV called Betsy who was a venerable 33 years old with my dear friend Lynne and it is more than my life is worth to tell you how old she is! Shall we just say, she is considerably younger than me, aren’t I a lucky boy? Actually I am as it was a superb trip, one of the best I have ever had.

If you are new to my blog, firstly you are very welcome and I thank you for reading this and secondly, if you want to know the story of this particular “ramble” from the beginning then you can do so here.

Regular readers will know that we had gone to bed in the early hours of the 5th July in the knowledge that we were directly in the path of the rapidly approaching Hurricane Arthur and if you wish to know what happened next then please read on.

There’s a hurricane a-comin’.

Hello again everyone and welcome to this post, one of a series about a 2014 trip to the Maritime Provinces of Canada which consisted mostly of a road trip with my dear friend Lynne in Betsy, the very old but extremely loveable campervan / RV. As always I shall start off by informing the reader that if they wish to read the entire story they can begin it here.

If you have read the post before you will know that the previous evening we had attended the excellent military tattoo in Halifax, Nova Scotia and had consumed perhaps a little too much alcohol afterwards so we did not rise too early on the morning of the 3rd of July. If you want to know what happened next (or didn’t) then please read on.
