A brilliant night out.

Good day to you dear reader, whether you be here for the first time or are one of regular band of readers / correspondents who for some inexplicable reason keep reading my ramblings about my ramblings.

The particular rambling in this post concerns a ramble (enough rambling – Ed.) I had in the Maritime States of Canada in 2014 with my dear friend Lynne in a 33-year-old campervan / RV that we had rather whimsically named Betsy. If you wish to read the whole story from the beginning, which I find useful in most things, then you may do so here.

If you are all caught up you will know that on the evening of the 1st of July we had driven up from Lunenburg to the Nova Scotian capital of Halifax and then proceeded to drive straight through it without stopping, which seems an odd thing to do. The reason was that we were staying just across the Sound in Dartmouth at the very pleasant Shubie Campground which we were going to use as a base for a couple of days so if you want to see what happened next then please read on.

Leaving the lighthouses, Hello Halifax.

Hello once again and welcome to the latest edition of my trip to the Maritime Provinces of Canada in Summer 2014 with my dear friend Lynne in Betsy, the 33-year-old camper van. Betsy was a bit poorly at this stage as regular readers will know from the previous post. If you want to know the whole story from the start, you can do so here.

Yes indeed, poor old Betsy was a sickly lady, having gone suddenly nearly blind the night before by which I mean her headlights had conked out and we had been forced to retreat back to the Lunenburg Municipal Campground we thought we had left behind that morning. This in itself was no hardship as it is an excellent site as I have been happy to report before but we needed to get things sorted as we had crawled the seven miles back from Mahone Bay on sidelights with the combined output of three candles!

If you want to know what happened next then please read on.

Lovely, lovely Lunenburg (2).

Hello once again everyone and welcome to my series of posts referring to a 2014 trip round the Maritime Provinces in Canada with my dear friend Lynne in a very old campervan / RV called Betsy.

Regular readers will know that we had spent the previous day doing lots of nothing which seems like a bit if a sin in the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Lunenburg, Nova Scotia, which is where we were but it was obviously what we wanted to do so we did it. I know it is not a travel style that suits everyone, sometimes not even Lynne if truth be told, but we seemed to be getting on all right with it.

Our brief wanders around town, coupled with the very informative literature from the Visitor Information Centre, which was conveniently on the campsite, showed us that there was a lot to see here so we determined to have a day of being full-bore tourists. Ladies and gentlemen, in the previous post I promised you a busy post here and that is what you shall have. If you would like to know what we did then please read on.

As always, fair warning, this really is a long one so take whatever safety measures you need to protect yourself against one of my lengthier rambles!

Lovely, lovely Lunenburg (1).

Good day to you and my usual welcome to the latest offering in my series about my 2014 trip to the Maritime Provinces which, should you so wish, you can read from the start here. I was having a great time rambling about with my dear friend Lynne in a 33-year-old campervan / RV which we had named Betsy.

I could not believe that I awoke on the morning of the 28th June in the Lunenburg Municipal campground but that is what happened. I was finding it hard to believe that we had only been on the road for eight nights as we had already seen and done so much it seemed like it must be longer. We had already decided to stay here again that night so if you want to discover what happened then please read on.

I’m loving the Lighthouse Route.

Welcome once again to the latest instalment in the story of my trip round the Maritime Provinces of Canada in summer 2014 in an ancient campervan called Betsy with my dear friend Lynne. If you wish to read it from the start, here is a link for you.

If you have read my previous ramblings you will know that we had spent the 26th June driving in fairly torrential rain and retreating earlier than was our habit to the Lockeport Cottages and Campground in Nova Scotia, then spending the night listening to the afore-mention rain beating on the roof of the van.

A look out the window next morning made me regret not packing Wellington boots as the site resembled a small lake. If you want to find out what happened next, please read on.

A market, magistrates and murk.

Hello there and welcome to the latest in my series concerning a trip I had in summer 2014 with my dear friend Lynne in a very, very old campervan called Betsy. If you want to read the whole story from the beginning you can do so here. If you don’t want to or already have then please read on of you want to find out what happens.

Won’t you come down to Yarmouth Town?

Hello again dear readers and welcome once again to this edition in my series of the story of a journey around the Maritime Provinces of Canada in a very old campervan / RV with my dear friend Lynne. As always, my advice is that if you wish to learn the whole story you should start here.

If you have read through, you will know that we had landed up in Yarmouth, Yarmouth Town as I rather tunelessly sung along to when I had touched down in Halifax and was finally on the road with Lynne, my travel buddy for this trip. It is a lovely rendition of an old song, somewhat ruined by my accompaniment but performed excellently by my late and dear friend Nick Clyne and his band.

If you want to know how we fared then please read on.

I’m digging Digby.

Welcome back, dear readers, or a very warm welcome to those of you who may have just landed on this site for the first time. This particular portion of the blog is dedicated to a roadtrip I took round the Maritime Provinces of Canada in 2014 with Betsy (a very agéd campervan / RV) and Lynne (a not at all agéd and very dear friend). If you wish to read the tale of the whole expedition, you can do so here.

Regular readers will know that we were in Digby, Nova Scotia and staying in a lovely campground which was rather unimaginatevly named Digby Campground so if you wish to know what happened next then please read on.

Back on the road (just).

Hello again and welcome to the sixth instalment of a series of posts about my Summer 2014 roadtrip around the Maritime Provinces of Canada with my dear friend Lynne in a very old campervan / RV. You may wish to read it from the beginning.

My regular readers will undoubtedly be glad to note that I have managed to abridge my usual intro down to two sentences now!

We woke on the morning of the 23rd June to another glorious day, unexpectedly back in the excellent Dunromin’ campground in Granville Ferry, Nova Scotia which was certainly no hardship as it is superb.

The reason our stay was unexpected was that we had intended to move on the day before but had become so waylaid with the myriad historical sites in Granville Ferry and nearby Annapolis Royal without seeing them all that we decided to give it another day.

If you’d care to join us you would be more than welcome.

We don’t get very far.

Hello again everyone and welcome to another episode in my journal regarding a road-trip I made with my friend Lynne around the Maritime Provinces of Canada in the early summer of 2014. We were in an agéd but remarkably comfortable campervan / RV called Betsy and if you want to read the whole tale from the beginning then just click on this link.

If you have read the preceeding entries you will know that we had spent the first night of our little adventure in a campground in Granville Ferry called Dunromin’, which is an awful name, although probably toungue in cheek (I hope) but is a great place to spend a night. A quick glance out the window showed that it was a glorious day and we had nothing planned so what to do with it? If you wish to know, then please read on.
